Cuenca

It turned out that the only way to get from Trujillo to Cuenca was a red-eye bus. Left at 7:45 pm (on time!), was cushy comfortable and got to Tumbes (on the border) 11 hours later. Had to go to immigration to exit Peru, travel by cab to the bus station in Ecuador, schedule the bus trip, go to Ecuador immigration, return to the bus station, wait, travel 5 hours to Cuenca...with a driver training for formula one racing...on a bus that was not cushy.

Cuenca is the home of the Panama Hat. Quaint, slow-paced colonial town.

Most of yesterday was spent with Que.

He has chosen to live in Ecuador because there is a comfortable group of friends who share his interest in street art. He knew who was the artist for each of the images in the "Street Art Ecuador" magazine and I had photographed some of his work in Quito.

These are pieces of a wall he recently completed in Cuenca. The first is his signature.

Que is well-connected to street artists in Ecuador and other places. I will learn a lot from him.

We went for a walk and he was going to show me a large installation but the entire work, 3 or 4 walls, had been painted over, except for the shoes.

Location:Cuenca, Ecuador
